Growing Information
Gardenias thrive in partial shade to bright indirect light and prefer well-draining, acidic soil. Maintain moderate watering to keep the soil evenly moist. Mature plants typically reach heights of 3 to 5 feet with a moderate growth rate. They are suitable for USDA zones 8 to 11 but can be grown indoors in cooler climates. This shrub is container friendly, making it versatile for various garden settings.
For improved germination, lightly scarify the seeds and soak them in warm water for 12 to 24 hours before planting. Keep the soil warm, around 70–75°F, and consistently moist. Germination may take several weeks to months, so patience is essential.
