Sizing an inline fan is arithmetic, not opinion: take your tent's cubic feet, exchange the air once a minute, then add back what your carbon filter and ducting steal. A 4x4x6.5 tent is 104 ft³, so 100 CFM is the floor — but with a filter and a couple of bends you want 200+ CFM of rated capacity to actually get it. How to size an inline fan
- Tent volume = L × W × H in feet.
- Base CFM = volume ÷ 1 minute (one full air exchange per minute).
- Add 25–35% for a carbon filter.
- Add 20% for ducting bends, and 10% more per additional 90° bend.
- Add 25% if your room runs hot or you're pulling through a silencer.

What to skip
- Undersized fans "because it's quieter." An undersized fan at 100% is louder and worse than an oversized fan at 50%.
