An aeroponic cloner roots cuttings in 7–10 days instead of 14–21 in soil, because the stem sits in constantly oxygenated mist with nothing to rot. The tradeoff is that you have to keep the reservoir clean and the water cool — 68–72°F — or you trade root rot for the problem you were avoiding. The machines below are ordered by how forgiving they are, then by site count. If you're cloning fewer than 10 cuttings at a time, a tray and dome is genuinely the better buy.

How to choose a cloner

Site count should be about 2× what you think you need. You'll take more cuttings than planned and not all of them root.
Aeroponic (spray) vs bubble (air stone). Aeroponic roots faster; bubble cloners are cheaper and more forgiving of neglect. Beginners do better on bubble.
Reservoir temperature is the failure point. Above 75°F you get pathogens. Plan for a cool room or a small chiller.
Pump quality — the pump runs continuously, and it's the part that fails mid-cycle on cheap units.
Lid and collar fit. Loose collars let light into the reservoir, which grows algae.

What to skip

Nutrients in the cloner reservoir. Plain pH'd water (5.5–6.0) plus a rooting additive is all you want — nutrients feed pathogens, not roots.
A cloner with no way to keep the water cool if your room runs warm. Warm water is how most first attempts fail.
