Building a simple fall propagation station at home is an easy way to grow new plants from cuttings when outdoor temperatures begin to cool. A basic setup does not require expensive equipment. You mainly need a clean workspace, propagation tray, suitable rooting medium, humidity dome, gentle light, and clean cutting tools.

Start by choosing healthy parent plants and taking strong cuttings with clean, sharp tools. Depending on the plant, cuttings can be rooted in water, Root Riot cubes, coco-perlite mix, or another suitable propagation medium. Rooting hormone can also be used when appropriate to support root development.

Place the propagation station in a warm location with bright, indirect light. Keep the rooting medium evenly moist but avoid overwatering, which can encourage rot. A humidity dome can help maintain moisture around young cuttings, while gentle airflow helps reduce excessive humidity.

Check your cuttings regularly for signs of new growth and root development. Once roots are established, gradually move the young plants into individual containers and acclimate them to their new growing conditions.

With the right supplies and consistent care, a small fall propagation station can make it easier for beginners to successfully produce healthy new plants at home
