Jersey is a vigorous, late-season Northern Highbush blueberry. Its small-to-medium, medium-blue berries resist cracking and have a sweet, good flavor that suits fresh eating, baking, freezing, and preserves.

Jersey Blueberry Highlights

  • Harvest: Late season; timing varies by region.
  • Fruit: Small to medium, medium blue, sweet, and crack resistant.
  • Plant habit: Very vigorous, large, and upright; typically 4–6 feet with pruning.
  • Climate fit: Listed for USDA Zones 4–8 with a 500–1,000-hour chill range.
  • Plant: Supplied as one plant in the seasonal dormant-plant program.

Pollination

Jersey is generally self-fertile, but another Northern Highbush cultivar with overlapping bloom can improve berry size and yield. Consider Liberty or Chandler.

Planting and Care

Plant in full sun and acidic, well-drained soil, ideally around pH 4.5–5.5. Maintain even moisture and mulch the shallow root zone. Annual renewal pruning helps keep a large, vigorous Jersey bush open to light and air.
