Biloxi is a relatively low-chill Southern Highbush blueberry for warm-winter regions. Its vigorous, upright plants produce medium-size berries with good color, flavor, and firmness. Biloxi blooms and ripens early, so open flowers can be vulnerable to a late spring freeze.

Biloxi Blueberry Highlights

  • Blueberry type: Southern Highbush
  • Harvest: Early season; actual timing varies by climate.
  • Fruit: Medium-size, firm berries with a small picking scar.
  • Chill requirement: Relatively low chill; the current product specification is 100–300 hours.
  • Plant: Vigorous and upright; supplied as one plant in the seasonal dormant-plant program.

Pollination

Plant Biloxi near another Southern Highbush cultivar with overlapping bloom for better fruit set and berry size. Misty is a useful warm-climate companion. Weather and local bloom timing affect pollination.

Planting and Care

Choose full sun and acidic, well-drained soil. Blueberries perform best around pH 4.5–5.5 and need consistent moisture without standing water. Mulch to moderate soil temperature and protect shallow roots, keeping mulch away from the crown.
