BONIDE Thuricide is a microbial insecticide that uses Bacillus thurengiensis v. kurstaki (Btk) to provide biological control of caterpillars and various borer species. Thuricide targets specific pest insects leaving beneficial insect populations unharmed and can be used alongside many common organic insecticides and biocontrols. Its 4 hour reentry interval (REI) makes Thuricide ideal for use on edible crops and in nurseries for control of common pest larvae like tomato hornworm, european corn borer and armyworm.

Btk takes action once ingested by disrupting the affected insect's digestive system and limiting feeding. Starvation and death occur within 1-5 days after ingestion; however, feeding will be dramatically reduced during that period. Crops can be harvested the day after Btk is applied.

Alternative formulations of Btk are available as wettable powder (DiPel DF) or liquid (Monterey Bt).
