Mushroom Grow Tents, Monotubs and Fruiting Chambers
A fruiting chamber does two jobs at once that pull against each other: hold humidity at 85-92%, and exchange air often enough to keep CO2 low. Seal it up for humidity and you get long stems and tiny caps. Open it up for air and it dries out. Everything below - from a monotub with polyfill holes to a fully automated tent - is a different answer to that same tension.

Conditions to hit
- Humidity 85-92% during fruiting. Below 80% caps crack and dry; above 95% you invite bacterial blotch.
- CO2 under 1000 ppm to trigger and hold pinning. This is the single most misunderstood variable in mushroom growing.
- Temperature 60-75°F, species dependent - cooler than the 75-80°F used for colonisation.
- Indirect light on a rough 12 hour cycle. It is a direction cue, not an energy source.
- Monotub substrate depth 4-6 inches, with polyfill-stuffed holes at substrate level for passive exchange.
What to skip
- Sealing the chamber to hold humidity. Stems stretching with small caps is a CO2 problem every time.
- Misting the mushrooms directly. Mist the walls and the air - water sitting on caps causes bacterial blotch.
- Running a cannabis-style CO2 enrichment setup. Mushrooms want the opposite: CO2 removed, not added.
